Giulio Coderoni…in arte “Blacky”…

E’ negli anni ’70 che nasce la sua passione per la Musica Rock! …ma il ’74 è l’anno che cambierà la sua vita! …gli viene regalata una chitarra da studio! Da lì in poi un’escalation a crescere! Varie conoscenze, tra queste il suo Fratello-Amico Phil Salera lo portano a sviluppare dapprima la passione per il Progressive Rock (da qui la passione per Steve Howe degli YES) e per la chitarra 12 corde e successivamente per il Coutry-Rock e la West Coast!

Varie Bands e successive esibizioni! …ma fondamentalmente Giulio nasce come Autore di testi! …La chitarra diverrà il tramite per trasmettere le sue sensazioni! Negli anni 2000 la sua appartenenza alla Band “Frontier” gli offre la possibilità di suonare in pubblico alcuni dei suoi brani, con un ottimo successo di pubblico!

Ma è nel 2017 che la svolta si delinea nitida! La conoscenza con Alfredo Pirchi (in arte BluesBoy Alfie) grandissimo chitarrista Blues e il desiderio di entrambi di suonare musica propria! Da questa simbiosi nascono i West Coast Bullet …un duo che ha e avrà molto da raccontare!

Giulio Coderoni…aka “Blacky“

It was in the 70s that his passion for Rock Music was born! …but ’74 is the year that will change his life! … he is given a studio guitar as a gift! From then on an escalation to grow! Various acquaintances, among these his brother-friend Phil Salera lead him to develop first the passion for Progressive Rock (hence the passion for Steve Howe of YES) and for 12-string guitar and later for Coutry-Rock and the West Coast!

Various Bands and subsequent performances! … but basically Giulio was born as a text author! … The guitar will become the means to convey his sensations! In the 2000s, his membership in the Band “Frontier” offers him the opportunity to play some of his songs in public, with great public success!

But it is in 2017 that the turning point is clear! The acquaintance with Alfredo Pirchi (aka BluesBoy Alfie) great Blues guitarist and the desire of both to play their own music! From this symbiosis the West Coast Bullets are born … a duo that has and will have a lot to tell!

Nel finire degli anni ’60 iniziò ad avvicinarsi alla musica ed i primi Vinili o Long-Playing li iniziò a comprare nel ’73 …Rock …Progressive …Country-Rock …West Coast …Blues e Rock-Blues …più passavano gli anni più la curiosità si allargava e lo ha portato ad ascoltare ogni genere musicale fino al Jazz e alla musica contemporanea …erano momenti in cui ogni ascolto ti allargava la mente e gli orizzonti!!!… nei fine ’60 e primi ’70 iniziò a suonare la chitarra …e nei primi anni ’80 iniziò un percorso formativo che lo ha portato a migliorare tecnica …approccio e sentimenti!

Tre anni a lezione di Fingerpicking con Stefan Grossman quando dall’ ’81 all’ ’83 Stefan soggiornò a Grottaferrata, studiando Blues, Counrty-Blues, ballate irlandesi (Fiddle tunes) e cenni di Bluegrass. Poi l’iscrizione alla scuola di musica Saint Louiss… seguì un corso di teoria musicale con Giovanni Tommaso (del Banco del Mutuo Soccorso) e chitarra jazz con Eddie Palermo, proseguendo con Eddie privatamente fino a Giugno 1984. Nello stesso periodo comprò un pianoforte (da Castrianni a Fontana di Trevi) per studiare meglio la teoria musicale. Dal 2006 al 2009 ha ampliato la tecnica chitarristica con lezioni singole con Miki Piperno presso la scuola diretta da lui e la moglie, Silvia Battisti D’Amario, zona Monteverde. …A Giugno 1985 ha partecipato alla selezione per un posto di chitarra nell’orchestra di prossima formazione “Orchestratina” per il primo Atina Jazz Festival 1986, arrivando 3° su 8 pretendenti. …Dal 2001 ha sempre suonato in gruppi musicali sia facendo cover che musica originale. …Segnato alla S.I.A.E. dal 2005 al 2011 depositando 4 brani originali.

A Settembre 2004 ha fondato insieme al suo amico Daniele Bosi, in arte Magic Harp, il gruppo blues “Blues Alleys Band” suonando più volte fino a Ottobre 2005 in diversi locali della capitale (Big Mama, Stazione Birra, Caffè Letterario) condividendo il palco anche con Roberto Ciotti, Daniel Petersen (bassista dei primi Savoy Brown), Raffaella Misiti (cantante degli Acustimantico), partecipando al festival Blues sul lago di Bracciano ed infine hanno aperto il concerto romano a Stazione Birra di Rudy Rotta grazie alla conoscenza con Guido Bellachioma.

…in tutto questo elenco di cose belle non potevano mancare i 9 anni passati insieme agli “Zamp”…(dal 2000 al 2009)…un gruppo di amici musicisti con i quali BBAlfie ha condiviso momenti indimenticabili…si riunivano una volta a settimana in sala prove ed ogni volta era un “happening”!!!…Fu un periodo spensierato e proprio per questo magnifico!!!

Da Ottobre 2015, per due anni, ha fatto parte di un coro ecclesiastico in qualità di tenore del maestro Danilo Defant (uno dei solisti del coro di Monsignor Frisina che dirige il coro del Papa) da cui ha imparato alcune tecniche di canto.

Dal 2017 al 2019 ha collaborato con gli Svergognati Musicali di Roberto Albanese, in arte Bob Alicione, gruppo di cover e parodie cambiando spesso i testi in simpatiche performances. Poi in primavera 2019 l’incontro con Giulio “Blacky” Coderoni rivedendo musica West Coast, inizialmente mettendo su un repertorio di cover e poi dall’inizio della pandemia (Feb. 2020) hanno iniziato un progetto di collaborazione di musica propria…originale, Giulio come autore dei testi e di molte musiche e spesso cantante, e Alfredo “BluesBoy Alfie” come arrangiatore e a volte come autore di musiche e in questo caso anche come cantante.

Grazie al suo studio musicale privato (“Studio 52”) è lui che cura le registrazioni su multitraccia terminando il prodotto audio, …ed è sempre BluesBoy Alfie che cura la regia…la sceneggiatura ed il montaggio dei Video Musicali….ed infine ma non ultimo ha curato la creazione di questo sito web.

Alfredo Pirchi…aka “BluesBoy Alfie”…

In the late ’60s he began to approach music and the first Vinyls or Long-Playing began to buy them in ’73 … Rock … Progressive … Country-Rock … West Coast … Blues and Rock-Blues… more the years passed and more the curiosity widened and led him to listen to every genre of music up to Jazz and contemporary music … they were moments in which each listening broadened your mind and horizons !!! …in the late ’60s and early’ 70s he started playing the guitar … and in the early ’80s he began a training path that led him to improve technique…approach and feelings!

Three years in Fingerpicking lessons with Stefan Grossman when from ’81 to ’83 Stefan stayed in Grottaferrata, studying Blues, Counrty-Blues, Irish ballads (Fiddle tunes) and hints of Bluegrass. Then enrolling in the Saint Louiss music school … followed a course in music theory with Giovanni Tommaso (from Banco del Mutuo Soccorso) and jazz guitar with Eddie Palermo, continuing with Eddie privately until June 1984. In the same period he bought a piano (from Castrianni to the Trevi Fountain) to better study music theory. From 2006 to 2009 he expanded his guitar technique with single lessons with Miki Piperno at the school directed by him and his wife, Silvia Battisti D’Amario, in the Monteverde area. … In June 1985 he participated in the selection for a place on guitar in the upcoming “Orchestratina” orchestra for the first Atina Jazz Festival 1986, finishing 3rd out of 8 contenders. … Since 2001 he has always played in bands both doing covers and original music. … Marked at S.I.A.E. from 2005 to 2011 depositing 4 original songs.

In September 2004 he founded with his friend Daniele Bosi, aka “Magic Harp”, the blues group “Blues Alleys Band” playing several times until October 2005 in various clubs in the Italian capital (Big Mama, Stazione Birra, Caffè Letterario) sharing the stage with Roberto Ciotti, Daniel Petersen (bassist of the Savoy Brown), Raffaella Misiti (singer of Acustimantico), participating in the Blues festival on Lake Bracciano and finally they opened the Roman concert at Rudy Rotta’s Birra Station thanks to the acquaintance with Guido Bellachioma.

… in this whole list of beautiful things we could not miss the 9 years spent together with “The Zamp” … (from 2000 to 2009) … a group of musician friends with whom BBAlfie shared unforgettable moments … they met once a week in the rehearsal room and every time it was a “happening” !!! … It was a carefree period and for this reason it was wonderful !!!

From October 2015, for two years, he was part of an ecclesiastical choir as tenor of maestro Danilo Defant (one of the soloists of Monsignor Frisina’s choir who directs the Pope’s choir) from whom he learned some singing techniques.

From 2017 to 2019 he collaborated with Roberto Albanese’s Svergognati Musicali, aka Bob Alicione, a group of covers and parodies, often changing the lyrics in nice performances. Then in spring 2019 the meeting with Giulio “Blacky” Coderoni reviewing West Coast music, initially putting on a repertoire of covers and then from the beginning of the pandemic (Feb. 2020) they started a collaboration project of their own … original music , Giulio as the author of the lyrics and many music and often a singer, and Alfredo “BluesBoy Alfie” as an arranger and sometimes as a music author and in this case also as a singer.

Thanks to his private music studio (“Studio 52”) he is the one who takes care of the multitrack recordings finishing the audio product, … and it is always BluesBoy Alfie who takes care of the direction … the film script and the editing of the Music Videos…..and last but not least he took care of the creation of this website.
